Rotating Internship Opportunities
The Regional Veterinary Referral Center (RVRC) is well established (since 1983), extensively equipped and seeks to find five bright, enthusiastic and hardworking veterinarians to fill rotating internship positions in small animal medicine and surgery each year. Our program was started in 1999, and each year we continue to look for the right people to fit into and become part of our Center. The range of specialties represented here allows us to offer a unique opportunity for those that desire a challenging rotating internship outside of a University setting.The Regional Veterinary Referral Center is made up of a fully staffed 24 hour Emergency/Critical Care Service, as well as the services of a Board Certified Dermatologist, Internist, Oncologist, Radiation Oncologist (with on site linear accelerator for radiation therapy), Radiologist (with an I-131 treatment Center for Feline Hyperthyroidism and on site CATScan) and two Surgeons (one with special training in surgical oncology)! Supervised rotations would cover all of the above areas. In addition, you would be expected to work as the primary veterinarian for the Emergency Service on weekends, holidays and to cover other shifts as needed.
Emergency Critical Care Internship
The Regional Veterinary Referral Center has a fully-staffed 24 hour Emergency/Critical Care ServiceThere is direct support and supervision offered by a board certified criticalist and four full-time emergency/critical care clinicians as well as access to the full array of specialists in our facility. The caseload is high, the atmosphere is friendly and the support staff is exceptional (including a technician certified in emergency/critical care medicine). Clientele in the area have the discretionary income that allows us to practice the quality of medicine we desire. This position will be a combination of daytime, evening, weekend and holiday responsibilities. Emergency rounds as well as grand rounds (with all the specialists) take place weekly with monthly journal club meetings. This position could lead into an alternative pathway residency for the right candidate.
Oncology Internship
This one year program is designed for those veterinarians who seek additional exposure to Veterinary Oncology. Supervised rotations would allow for extensive exposure to medical, radiation and surgical oncology as well as the diagnostic modalities used in caring for these patients.The Regional Veterinary Referral Center was founded on the concept that state-of-the-art medical and surgical care should be readily available to the general public for their pets. Our team approach and cumulative experience encourages timely and multidisciplinary evaluations. This unique blend of specialists currently sees referrals from the entire Mid-Atlantic region. We are located in Northern Virginia, just 15 minutes from the center of Washington, DC, the area offers an abundance of rural, suburban, and urban settings nearby, with all possible activities.
